The Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes (EPHE, Paris) is an Institute for advanced research in Science, Humanities and Religious Studies, with a focus on training master and doctoral students through direct practice of research. The Religious Sciences Section (Section des sciences religieuses) of EPHE is one of the three core departments of EPHE. With about 40 full professors (“directeurs d’études”), this Section provides doctoral training covering all the religious phenomena of the world, over all periods of time, by using the different approaches of the Social Sciences and Humanities (history, sociology, anthropology, philosophy), by synthesizing them methodologically, by striving to promote comparisons that highlights invariants and specificities, and by paying special attention to the principle of “laicity” in research methods (https://www.ephe.fr/formations/conferences/).
